Offshoring
alt
Identical with the rapid developments in the field of technology, there are similar developments in the areas of project management and resourcing. Because of our innovative character we do not only reap the fruits from our early adaptation of new technologies, but also from these similar developments. A major consequence of these new developments in the fields of technology and software architecture, is the fact that distributed development has become much easier.

In the light of the internationalization of the economy and ICT, this is of course not just coincidence. The disengagement of data, logic and presentation, the splitting up of applications into components and the web-enabling of tools, result in a situation that allows parallel teams to work on their specific part of the development of systems, regardless  their actual geographic location.

For example: we have informative sessions with customers in the Netherlands, we have virtual designs made in Eastern Europe and we have certain parts of applications built in India. This trend, already set in years ago, will only grow. Therefore Itude has embarked on it in the early stages. By making use of large and small offshore projects, Itude has now fully integrated offshoring in its developing process.

Standard errors that continue being made by large international consultancy or other companies have been worn out in our developing process. Intensive communication using sound and vision, regular onshore and offshore visits, Enterprise wiki, web-based issue management system, continuous integration with daily build, central version management system and tooling-supported code reviews, all contribute in guaranteeing the quality of the application to be developed.

For the sake of the quality and cost efficiency we work with multi-disciplinary consultants who both are knowledgeable of technology and have the skills to communicate with customers and offshore teams. Based on two onshore team members and an offshore team we are fully equipped to execute a developing project that would costs a large consultancy firm at least 4 or 5 people for its onshore team. Itude, for example, has consultants who take care of both project management and functional analysis and consultants who can take care of both software architecture, system development and technical implementation (with knowledge of application servers and network infrastructure). This approach immediately results in a lower price for our customers.

Offshoring can be deployed both on a small and a large scale. Provided that it is used correctly, offshoring offers the customer numerous advantages. Quality at a low price. By implementing world-wide standards you, as a customer, become less dependent on local suppliers. By implementing a software architecture based on world-wide standards and by outsourcing basic developing work, the maintainability of the application is increased. The service, consisting of a combination of response time and solution time during the maintenance period of the application, is excellent and less expensive.
